Recycling Group Discussions 20/3/11 Ideas discussed were:

• That we should be encouraging waste reduction, re-use, recycling and recovery, in that order.
• The possibility of lobbying the county council to take more to recycle, not to burn
• The establishment of a local bottle bank, possibly at Low Prudhoe transport interchange if no suitable site in Ovingham
• Establishment of a Tetra Pack bank
• Recycling at the Goose Fair
• Organising a visit to Sleekburn
• Holding recycling workshops, eg button jewellery
• Plastic bottle greenhouse at the school
• Food recycling, communal composter?
• Education around reduction of waste and packaging, awareness raising Immediate Action Proposals:
• To try to get local recycling facilities. To start off this process by establishing what has already been discussed, sites looked at, etc, and asking the county council what the process is to get such a local facility.
• Questioning the county council about their recycling policies, why some things cannot be recycled, how things could change, etc.
• Arrange a trip to Sleekburn to get a better understanding of how that facility works
