Do you live in the Ovingham area and have a garden that is underused, or that has gone unmanaged due to lack of time, interest, or physical mobility? Or are you a would-be gardener who has no access to a garden, and who would love the chance to grow your own fresh food, herbs and flowers?
This garden share scheme is a local initiative which will try to link up people who have an underused garden with enthusiastic people commited to growing their own. The benefits for the garden owners include a share of the produce, the pleasure of seeing a lovely developing vegetable plot, and the sense of community in being part of a sharing initiative. The gardeners will have the satisfaction of growing their own tasty veggies, enjoying being out in the open air and vastly reduce their food miles.
If you are a garden owner looking for a gardener, or a gardener wanting to grow food please contact Bridget Broadhurst on 01661 835096 to discuss details of the scheme and how it will work. Alternatively e-mail: broadhursts@croftview.freeserve.co.uk.
Don’t delay, Spring has at last sprung and the growing season is upon us!
This was a very successful event with over 150 people attending. Here's an article about this day that was printed in the Hexham Courant:
